If you hadn’t already heard, Phil Tattersall has been promoted to IPG Mediabrands UK’s Chief Operating Officer. Tatty has been with the group for a number of years so we thought it would be great to get his thoughts on a few things…

How many years have you been at Mediabrands and where did you start out in the company?

I started at McCann-Erickson’s media department in the late 80’s. I would buy the best spots for Nescafé and their Blend 37, only for the Gold Blend buyer to steal all my airtime.

Describe your role in a few sentences.

Overseeing the on-going operational and commercial strategy of the business. Working in partnership with Caroline Foster Kenny and the MDs of the agencies and all our Specialist Business Units to ensure commercial success and a profitable business.

Best thing about your job?

That I really enjoy it!

Worst thing about your job?

The Thameslink commute.

Your favourite moment/moments at Mediabrands?

My first boss leaving, he was a monster.

What’s your proudest achievement?

2016 – a great year for me. I was asked to stand-in following Andy Jones’ departure, selected for the D30 course and had amazing support from Jim Hytner and Ian Courts, but more importantly it was a great year for IPG Mediabrands in the UK and EMEA.

Tell us something nobody knows about you.

I’m the finest lasagne chef outside of Italy!
