Roaring Success for our Young Lions!
Incredible news for IPG Mediabrands UK at Cannes, as Rob Bellamy and Will Parrish officially won Gold at the Young Lions Media competition at the 2017 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. This is a fantastic acheivement for our young Strategists, who competed against over 80 market teams from across the globe to win this prestigious award.
Teams had just 24 hours to deliver on the brief set by Amnesty International. The challenge was to totally rethink their ‘Write for Rights’ campaign to appeal more to millennial audiences. Rob and Will came up with “Rhymes for Rights”, a campaign that would play on the idea that using the power of voice drives millennials to share their solidarity and using a key music influencer, such as grime artist Stormzy, would drive awareness.
Speaking about their win, Rob and Will said “We’re over the moon to win gold. We were up against the best in the world and with a bit of luck we were favoured on the day.”
“It was a tough brief from Amnesty around bringing letter writing to a young generation – we gave it everything we had with an idea around giving power to young voices through grime music and voice technology. It was a tough 24 hours and took a while to land on the right territory but we managed to deliver it clearly. We couldn’t be prouder to be this year’s Young Lions.”
