International Women’s Day at MBUK

On March 8th, we celebrated International Women’s Day, the worldwide event celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women, whilst also calling for gender equality. We were delighted to partake in a number of initiatives throughout the day to show our support.

As soon as they walked into our reception, everyone was greeted with our celebration of our fantastic female talent at IPG Mediabrands UK. Throughout the day, we showcased a video in the reception of SJS featuring our incredible females throughout our agencies.

We also encouraged all staff to have a photo taken holding a #PressforProgress card out in front of them – this year’s IWD hashtag – to show that they were committed to challenging the status quo and pressing for positive change for women. Alongside this, there were also #PressforProgress posters up around our building, allowing people to state what progressive action they would take to accelerate gender parity.

As mentioned previously, we have recently partnered with Media Trust, a charity who work with the Media and Comms industry to share their time, knowledge and creativity to benefit charities, communities and young people.

On International Women’s Day, the Media Trust hosted a special event at Google’s Victoria office that aimed to strengthen Women’s Voices. Women from across the media and advertising sector, including us, came together to show their support for charities and community groups that campaign and advocate for women and girls.

After being split into groups, we were partnered with the WEA – The Workers’ Educational Association, a charity dedicated to bringing high-quality, professional education opportunities for the most disadvantaged. By working together with our peers, we helped develop the charity’s skills, creating a solid plan for their communications and connecting them with their target audience.

It was an incredibly inspiring afternoon of creative brainstorming and networking and a fantastic opportunity for us to volunteer our skills. We were able to help such a brilliant charity that needs to raise awareness, engage with and drive action amongst disadvantaged women and girls. All whilst meeting some incredible women from across our industry.

The Media Trust  is a fantastic opportunity for you to volunteer your skills and talents with a range of charities that are all looking for support. To get involved, Register as a Volunteer.
