The Villa

For the entire week, IPG Mediabrands was situated in an exclusive villa alongside the seafront on the Palais. This year, we invited Dotmasters, a British grafitti artist, to produce a series of artwork as well as all the branding for the IPG Mediabrands Villa as way of exploring creativity, which was the overarching theme at Cannes.

Dotmasters is a UK graffiti artist who started painting on the streets of Brighton in the early ’90s. He takes a sideways look at a populist media with a typically English sense of humour. His work is impeccably detailed – his half-tone work, stark black and white street pieces and unique, photo-real colour stencils all create street-based illusions that fool the eye. During Cannes week, he created a different frame each day for each of the IPG Mediabrands partners, including a collaboration with his ‘Rude Kids’ collection featuring an image of a young girl with the selfie stick.
